Using Online Tutors for Help With Algebra Before College

Using Online Tutors for Help With Algebra Before CollegeGetting help with math before college is a huge task for many students who are struggling with the concept of addition and subtraction. These concepts are the backbone of all mathematical computations and it's very easy to get lost in a large proof of any equation when learning mathematics. For this reason, it's important that you find the help you need for these concepts so that you can use them at your earliest convenience.Math help is always available online for students who can't afford to pay a tutor to give them extra help. However, finding online help with math can be a challenge because there are so many different resources online that you can choose from. There are free sites and paid sites that are meant to offer you math help. Because most of the math problems on these sites are not intended for you to solve, they are less likely to be helpful to your learning. Luckily, there are also math tutors that provide online he lp with math, as well as tutors that are willing to offer a one-on-one tutoring service. It's also important that you find a math tutor who specializes in helping students with math before college. Too many students feel that their problems are unique, and so they ask for help with math before college just to avoid meeting people with similar backgrounds. This only makes it harder for them to understand the subject. It's always best to have two different types of tutors, and they should be able to bring up a variety of different types of problems for you to discuss. In addition, you should be able to communicate well with the tutor. Remember, it's not uncommon for a student to ask a math tutor to simplify something that they are struggling with, and you should be able to help them if this happens. It's important that you choose math tutors who specialize in math before college. They should be able to explain the process of taking college algebra to students who don't know much about it yet. They should also be able to explain a number of different concepts that you might be having difficulty with, so that you can be sure you understand everything that you're reading.Math tutors who specialize in math before college also make it easier for students to practice doing math problems on their own. For example, students often get stuck on the process of multiplying numbers, and they might need help with math before college to be able to learn how to multiply the numbers they're working with themselves. This will keep them from having to rely on a tutor to help them with the problem.Since there are so many online math tutors, you may find it difficult to find someone that works exclusively in math before college. If you want to find help with math before college, you should start asking tutors about their specialty when you're researching for tutors online. You should also be able to easily connect with them by talking to each other over the Internet.

Nearing the Edge What You Need to Know About the Fiscal Cliff

Nearing the Edge What You Need to Know About the Fiscal Cliff Photo from Flickr.com by StockMonkeys.com  Why is the impending fiscal cliff causing so much worry among politicians and citizens alike? If the previously agreed-upon tax increases and spending cuts do indeed go into effect at the beginning of 2013, many fear that the U.S. will immediately face another recession. The reason for this is that the Congressional Budget Office estimates that if taxes were increased and spending cut, the GDP would fall by roughly four percent in 2013, causing negative growth, and therefore a recession. However, in this scenario, the deficit as a percentage of the GDP would be cut in half, which many will agree is a definite plus side. Another possible path for avoiding the fiscal cliff involves involves cancelling some (or possibly even all) of the scheduled tax increases and spending cuts, which would only add to the United States already substantial deficit. If the government decided to take this course of action, it is widely thought that America may find itself in a total economic crisis mimicking that of what is currently transpiring in Europe. Can compromise be reached before the beginning of 2013? It seems doubtful, given that compromise has not been the most popular concept in politics as of late. Thomas Kenny agrees, saying that the oncoming fiscal cliff is a concern for investors since the highly partisan nature of the current political environment could make a compromise difficult to reach. The reality of upcoming tax increases and spending cuts isnt an entirely new concept; lawmakers have been aware of it for about three years. But because of the general tension and lack of agreement in Congress, solutions for this problem have not been agreed upon. The main way to solve this impending problem involves bipartisanship, with members of both parties working together. With a decision of this magnitude that needs to be made before 2012 ends, politicians need to roll up their sleeves, lay their party affiliations aside, and engage in a concept that most people are taught in kindergarten compromise.

How to Find Percent Error in Chemistry

How to Find Percent Error in ChemistryIf you are a chemistry student or even someone who has a general knowledge of chemistry, you may well have wondered how to find percent error in chemistry. This type of error can occur if the experiment is performed incorrectly and will create results that are not correct.A simple way to explain what this error is, is to give an example. Let's say that we are using a chemical for testing a certain substance and then we forget to add it to the solution. That substance then takes on a different colour. The problem here is that your apparatus is not the correct one and you've just got a false result. In order to find percent error in chemistry, you need to have the correct apparatus. This may mean you do need to purchase some other apparatus, but the most important thing is that you get the correct one.The first place to look is for an online website that contains the formula for the substance that you are testing. You can use this website to help fi nd out how to find percent error in chemistry. However, the next step is to purchase the formula, which is usually supplied by the university or college that you are studying at. If you cannot find this on the website, then you can order it from the manufacturer.Once you have the formula, the next step is to perform the experiment, and this is where the error comes into play. The experimenter needs to make sure that the right reagent is added to the correct container. This is where you need to understand the mistake that you made and repeat the procedure again. Once you have done this several times, you should see that the results you get are correct. The most common way to find percent error in chemistry is to give the experiment the correct ingredients and then have someone else write down the results. It may be advisable to hold off for a few days, just to make sure that you've really found the solution that you wanted. This is because the results may change slightly after being s tored in the laboratory for a period of time. It may also be advisable to leave the solution on a long enough period so that the concentration of the substance is high enough.By carefully following these steps, you should find how to find percent error in chemistry, which is pretty easy to do. Sometimes, it may take a bit of time to find the right solution but the results will always be right. Just remember that to find percent error in chemistry you need to buy the right reagent.

Elements in Chemistry

Elements in ChemistryIn chemistry, N is the element that's right above Carbon, also known as Nitrogen. N is mostly used as a soft element and is also the one that forms water with oxygen, as well as being the element that gives up nitrogen gas, allowing carbon to become the element that's more commonly found in fuels. To understand the history of the world, it is necessary to know all the elements that have been discovered. At the start of the Neolithic era, the first people discovered that carbon could be turned into oxygen. Later on, the discovery of iron was found, as well as copper. The discovery of iron is very important for later chemistry, as it is the main element that would later become the element that helps us make weapons and other equipment. Copper, and its byproduct, gold, are two other elements that would later be discovered. The P element, however, has just recently been discovered and was used in the early days of the discovery of metalworking, helping people to form t hings like steel and silver. Although it didn't actually become the metal, it was used as a filler substance for metals. As we know, there are different elements in chemistry. There are also different types of elements that are used in different fields. At the same time, there are also different numbers of elements that are used. The number of elements can be up to 10, depending on where it was discovered, although the scientists working on this have gone back and rewritten history so that the first element can be considered to be the earth's. In fact, scientists now believe that everything else we know about came from this earth's element. Scientists have now even claimed that there are things that only this earth has.The history of the field of chemistry has since then only been one history. These discoveries were made over the course of millions of years, and these discoveries lead to the development of everything that we have today. But at the same time, some of these discoveries were also made by outside scientists. For example, the discovery of this earth's element of nitrogen has happened by accident and was unintentional, although others like the discovery of gold and copper. So, since the history of the world is written in chemistry, each element that was discovered has been assigned a different number. The big ones include the earth's element and the six main elements.

Molybdenum and Chemistry

Molybdenum and ChemistryMolybdenum is an essential element that needs to be present in the body in trace amounts so it's important that one maintains a balanced diet. Molybdenum is found in animal and vegetable products but it is most beneficial when it is derived from natural sources. You can get it from oysters, cabbage, wheat, barley, oats, peanuts, beans, whole wheat, and barley.Alpha-Kaline phosphatase is an enzyme that is necessary for producing Molybdenum. It has an anabolic effect on the body. It helps in the utilization of carbohydrates and fats, which also help in the buildup of lactic acid. This lactate is then used as energy for cellular functions. Not many people realize that there are a number of minerals that you need to include in your diet if you want to have a healthy body. In this regard, you will find the list of minerals that are part of Molybdenum -5. Two of the minerals that are in Molybdenum have helped in keeping a balanced diet. They are magnesium and calcium .Magnesium is known to be a natural vasodilator that helps in keeping the blood vessels from being narrowed. This mineral also helps in keeping the cell membranes from becoming inflamed.Calcium is a mineral that is necessary in the formation of red blood cells and provides oxygen. Besides keeping you healthy, calcium is necessary in the development of nerve cells in the brain. The last two minerals that are involved in Molybdenum also have essential amino acids which help in building proteins. Without proteins, you cannot survive. What's more, proteins provide the source of energy that is required for the growth of cells and the maintenance of the brain.Vitamin A is also an important ingredient in Molybdenum. It helps in maintaining healthy skin, eyes, and nails. It is also required to maintain the proper functioning of the thyroid gland.

A Student Review of New York University

A Student Review of New York University The tutors behind Varsity Tutors are not just here to teach theyre sharing their college experiences as well. Alice is a New York City tutor specializing in Literature tutoring, AP English tutoring, all levels of Spanish tutoring, and more. She graduated from New York University in 2012 with a Bachelors degree in Comparative Literature. Check out her review of her alma mater: VT: Describe the campus setting and transportation options. How urban or safe is the campus? Are there buses or do you need a car/bike? Alice:The NYU campus is as urban as it gets, located in the heart of New York City. All of the dorms are located within walking distance to most of the buildings, and NYU also provides bus service to the further outlying locations. Many students ride bikes, walk, and use the subway to get around the city. VT: How available are the professors, academic advisers, and teaching assistants? Alice:The professors, advisers, and TAs are very accessible. I am still in touch with several of my professors and look to them as mentors. VT: How would you describe the dorm life rooms, dining options, location, socialization opportunities with other students? Alice:NYU is unique in that it provides many opportunities on and off campus. For students interested in on-campus life, there are a myriad of clubs and organizations, and dorms have strong communities. Dining halls are popular among freshmen, and usually after the first year, students cook for themselves and enjoy the many restaurants in NYC. Many students find jobs and internships in the city and become truly immersed in New York. VT: Which majors/programs are best represented and supported? What did you study and why? Did the university do a good job supporting your particular area of study? Alice:I studied Comparative Literature. The department is relatively small and students received much individualized attention. There was a great deal of support from the faculty and staff, and the university also provided many grant opportunities for students interested in research. VT: How easy or difficult was it for you to meet people and make friends as a freshman? Does Greek life play a significant role in the campus social life? Alice:I made friends through my freshman residence hall and freshman seminars. My best friend in NYC is from my first Writing class at NYU! Greek life is not a big aspect of campus life. VT: How helpful is the Career Centerand other student support services?Do many reputable companies recruit on campus? Alice:Many big companies recruit on campus, and the Career Center was greatly helpful and accessible. I easily found jobs through the Career Center while at NYU. VT: How are the various study areas such aslibraries, the student union, and dorm lounges? Are they over-crowded, easily available, spacious? Alice:The library can get a little crowded at finals time, but otherwise it was sparsely populated and my favorite place to write papers. The student union was a great place to relax, study, or hang out between classes (and it also has an amazing view down 5th Ave!). VT: Describe the surrounding town. What kinds of outside establishments / things to do are there that make it fun, boring, or somewhere in between? To what extent do students go to the downtown area of the city versus staying near campus? Alice:Its NYC! Anything and everything can be found in the city. I loved going to the museums, listening to jazz in the Village, enjoying the parks, trying new kinds of food, and generally exploring the different neighborhoods of the city. I lived off-campus in Brooklyn for my last three semesters and really enjoyed getting to know another borough. VT: How big or small is the student body? Were you generally pleased or displeased with the typical class sizes? Alice:NYU has a huge student body, yet nevertheless, class size remains very small. My Literature classes were never more than 20 students; usually they were around 10-12 students, and I remember one Literature Seminar with just five students. It was great to have discussions in small classes. Some of the more general classes are much larger I remember Intro to Psychology having over 500 students, and we met in smaller groups once a week with a TA for individualized attention. VT: Describe one memorable experience with a professor and/or class. Perhaps one you loved the most or one youregretthe most. Alice: My best memories are of sitting on my advisors couch talking about literature and my thesis. I remember when I learned about her dance career prior to becoming an NYU professor; I realized the photo behind her desk of a ballerina was her! I had so many great conversations with her. Wed start talking about literature and the conversation would often shift to dance, travel, family, New York, and just about anything else. Check out Alices tutoring profile. 5 Ways You May Be Creating Your Own Job Stress - Introvert Whisperer

Introvert Whisperer / 5 Ways You May Be Creating Your Own Job Stress - Introvert Whisperer 5 Ways You May Be Creating Your Own Job Stress When we think of work-life balance we often focus on ways to reduce the stress that our job produces.   The thinking is: if we can reduce the stress in the job then our life improves.   Good thinking.   Our job is part of our life so the more things you can do to make that part of your life work well, the better.   The problem is, many people do things to actually create the stress they are trying to deal with and don’t even realize it.   Work comes with enough stressors like deadlines, unrealistic expectations from management and surprises of all sorts.   We don’t need to add to the pile.   As with all changes we make, you must first be aware of the problem before you can do anything about it.   If you’re dealing with job stress consider these things as low-hanging fruit to quickly do away with:   1-Procrastination.    If you are the type that waits until the last minute to complete an assignment, you’re in for automatic stress.   The problem with waiting too long is that you can never predict other things that may come along to also fill up your time.   You also may discover the resources you need aren’t there when you are tight for time.           Action to take: When you get an assignment, start it then.   Get ahead of the power curve.   2-Take on too much.   If you’re the type that sees all kinds of problems and tasks to tackle, you may be taking on so much that you are creating stress.   You may need to adjust your appetite.   Sure it’s fun to do all of these things but not at the expense of creating stress.           Action to take: Sit down and prioritize your work.   Be willing to cut a few things for a while.   3-Over react.   You may think that everything someone asks of you is a top priority and you drop everything to respond to the request.   This reactive behavior creates stress.   While it is good to respond urgently to work, not everything requires your immediate attention.            Action to take: Ask questions about when it is needed so you can schedule it into your other work.   Tasks will come your way that are needed immediately and this action will create space for that to happen.   4-Not self-empowered.   This can be tricky.   Some people think they can’t speak up to management or take actions without being approved.   Granted, there are some times where this is true.   The problem is that without a certain amount of autonomy to make decisions and take independent action, you are constantly reacting and second-guessing.   It’s not a big confidence builder and is stressful.   Yet, if you are a bit timid in nature you are your own worst enemy.   You need to figure out the boundary conditions your boss has and this will help reduce your stress.             Action to take:   This will require potentially retraining yourself from being reluctant or timid so start small to create some confidence.   Start by picking out a  smaller project or problem to solve and then test your decision with the boss.   As new ones come along,   use each one as an opportunity to identify where the hot buttons are for the boss.   Ask questions and voice your opinions.   You will soon learn that you can voice your opinions and act independently on many more things than you might realize.   5-No time.   Huh?   It seems in life and work, few things happen exactly as we think.   Most of the time, people and processes just don’t get done when we think.   Traffic turns bad at the drop of a hat and people make decisions you don’t expect.   Usually, this means that your time will be impacted â€" in the wrong way.           Action to take:   Plan extra time into your activities so you can reduce the stress that comes with running out of time.   If you think it will take you 20 minutes to get somewhere, plan on 25.   If you think it will take you 4 days to complete a project, plan on 5 and schedule accordingly.   Even if you don’t always need the extra bits of time you planned for, you will discover that the occasional “breather” you give yourself will allow you to “de-stress”.   You will also discover that you will build the greater personal brand when you consistently deliver on time, every time. Life and work are never stress-free.   It’s just a fact of life.   Yet, there are things we can do to help keep stress at a minimum. How to Use a Capo 5 Useful Tips

How to Use a Capo 5 Useful Tips Suzy S. Have you ever been frustrated with the key of a song, and wanted to change it instantly without having to transpose everything and learn new chords? Well, now you can! Learning how to use a capo can be a lifesaver, especially if you enjoy singing along or if you frequently work with vocalists. For an easy, hands-on way to see how a capo works, try playing a normal C chord. Place your capo on the first fret. Then play the same position you just played youll notice its now half-step higher (C#). Next, move the capo to the second fret. Voila now you have the key of D. See where were going with this? As you experiment more with your capo, youll get better at recognizing which chords youre actually playing. In the meantime, consider keeping a capo chart nearby to cross-reference. Here are some additional tips to keep in mind: Check your tuning. Clamping the capo down on your strings sometimes causes them to go out of tune, so youll want to tune your guitar again when youre done using the capo. This is especially applicable for electric guitars, since the strings are so much lighter. Always place the capo slightly behind the fret never directly on top of it. Experiment with different types of capos. Spring-loaded (or trigger) capos are a popular choice, which are easier to use than a c-clamp capo. The latter type requires you to manually tighten the capo against the fret, whereas the former can be taken off quickly and with one hand. Another type is a toggle capo, which is generally the least expensive, but is also very flimsy. Shubb and Kyser are two well-known brands to check out. Use a partial capo for alternate tunings. A partial (or cut) capo covers only some of the strings. It gives off a distinct drone sound often used in Celtic music, and it also allows you to explore with alternate tunings, like Drop-D. Dont be afraid to experiment and play around with it! Watch for buzzing. If you have the capo in place, but your strings are still buzzing, try adjusting the capos position until you get a clean sound. Once youve learned how to use a capo,   youll have a lot more freedom to explore different keys and registers, and see what sounds best to you. Have fun! Photo by Adam Solomon.

Want to Learn Spanish 5 Options Broken Down By Cost

Want to Learn Spanish 5 Options Broken Down By Cost Suzy S. You probably already know the benefits of learning Spanish, from getting ahead in the job market to networking with new friends and more! But as with any skill, language mastery takes time and often money to achieve. If youre wondering how much it costs to learn Spanish, there isnt one hard-set answer it really depends on how youre going about your learning.  These days, the Internet makes it easy to find resources to even teach yourself Spanish, without needing a ton of expensive books or software. If youre on-the-go, free Spanish-learning apps can be a fun way to fit learning into your day. And when youre ready to get serious about your studies, the advent of online lesson platforms  makes finding a tutor within your budget easier than ever. So, whats the right option for you and your budget? Continue reading to learn  about five popular options to help you teach yourself Spanish. Software The modern version of a workbook is language learning software. While there are many available out there, the most well-known option is Rosetta Stone. Language software is a great option if you want to set your schedule sitting down whenever you have  some spare time however, the biggest drawback is the lack of personal attention. You wont be able to double check of your pronunciation with the software, so youll need to rely on your own ear to determine whether youre getting the syntax and pronunciation correct. This kind of software can cost you from $30 for a budget option up to a few hundred dollars for a comprehensive study of Spanish. Example  option: Rosetta Stone costs$499 for a 36-month beginner program. Books This language-learning option was  around well before computers, the Internet, or smartphones. A well-crafted book will allow  you to learn a language without purchasing multiple resources and building a considerable expense, and similar to software, you can go at  your own pace. Keep in mind, though, that  books share the same drawbacks as software as well. Most books will have quizzes or tests at the end of each chapter, but its difficult to really gauge your progress outside of that.  On top of this, you wont have the audio that software provides   typically just a  phonetic spelling that youll need to decipher. Books can be as inexpensive as $5 secondhand, or over $100 for a textbook. Example option:  Easy Spanish Step-By-Step  is a top seller on Amazon, and the paperback version can cost less than $8. Mobile Apps Nowadays, theres an app for everything including tons of apps  for learning Spanish. Language-learning apps are quite similar to software, but they are obviously much more portable. Its an easy option for quick study during your commute, on your breaks, or anywhere else that you bring your smartphone or tablet. In addition to being portable, many of these apps are free. On the drawback side, however keep in mind that these apps typically set your path for you and assume your goals. Because of this, you might get stuck at a certain level, even if what you  really want (or need) to learn is introduced much later on. Mobile apps may  be free and ad-supported, or require a monthly subscription of $5 up to $40 or even more. Example option: Download TakeLessons Live for free to access live, online classes in a variety of languages. Online  Learning Websites Dont want to install software or download an app? Another learning method comes in the form of websites or tutorial videos. It shares the same drawbacks as apps and software, in that theyre not targeted to your specific goals.  While there are certainly some great sites out there, theres also a handful of not-so-great options ones that rely on memorization and  repetition, instead of real-life scenarios for learning. Online resources can also be free and ad-supported, or require a monthly subscription of $10 to $50 or more. Example options:  Check out LearnWithOliver, or our other recommendations for Spanish-learning websites for adults, or  free Spanish-learning websites for kids. Tutoring Whether you seek an online tutor that you meet over video chat, or an in-person tutor that you meet with regularly, tutors are easily the most bang-for-your-buck. You have complete control over the pace of your learning (your tutor will monitor progress and only proceed when you have mastered the current Spanish segment), instantaneous feedback on pronunciation errors, and the ability to ask questions about anything that youre having trouble with. As  youre weighing options and considering  how much a tutor will cost, its important to realize how much more youre getting for the expense. Tutors with TakeLessons set their own rates, which gives you a wide variety of options. You can typically find tutors for as little as $15 per hour  up to  $100 per hour, depending on experience. Example option: A native Spanish speaker and TakeLessons Student Favorite, Georgina L. teaches beginners, intermediate, and  advanced students at  $30 per hour. So there you have it several options for learning Spanish, all at your fingertips! Best of luck with your studies, and let us know if you need any help getting started.  Going the tutoring route?
